About

Raphaël Chaudré, web developer in Vannes

I design and build custom websites and web apps from Vannes, Brittany. Avel Web is me: a one-person studio, founded in 2022, where you deal with the same person from the first call to launch.

Before that, I spent two and a half years building software for marinas in the Morbihan, then nearly three years in a product team in Nantes. I kept two habits from it: writing code another developer can pick up, and meeting the deadlines I announce.

  1. Since 2026 · Vannes

    Founder of Bénévènement

Volunteer management software for festivals, races and trade shows: online sign-up by shift, automatic conflict detection, rosters, emails and QR-code check-in. Built for the 83 volunteers and 189 shifts of the Phare Ouest'Ival festival, designed and developed alone (Node.js, PostgreSQL, Stripe, hosted in Europe).

  2. Since 2025 · Nantes

Co-founder of an HSE compliance product

  3. Since 2022 · Vannes

    Avel Web

Showcase and brand websites for freelancers, small businesses and non-profits, and business applications that replace spreadsheets: back-offices, event management, member areas, PDF and Excel exports. Hosting, launch, performance and technical SEO included.

  4. 2022 – 2025 · Nantes

    Web developer at Keepcod

Web and mobile applications (PHP, Vue.js, Flutter, WordPress) within a product team, and for local companies.

  5. 2017 – 2020 · Vannes

Full-stack developer at PrimOcean, then Atout Ports

Software for marinas: PrimoAcces, access control for harbour facilities (C#, RabbitMQ), encoding of boaters' badges (C++), its web services and admin site. For the Arzal-Camoël lock, the website and interactive voice server that manage boat passages, connected to Passeport Escales. PrimOcean was acquired by Atout Ports in 2019; I carried on with the same work.

  6. 2013 – 2017 · Lannion, Redon, Alençon

    Education

Networks and telecommunications at IUT Lannion, a BTS in IT services (software development track) at Lycée Saint-Sauveur in Redon, then a professional bachelor in e-commerce and digital marketing at IUT Alençon. First websites as an intern at SeeWeb, in Vannes.

Sailing, and where "Avel" comes from

My first job had me working for marinas: access to harbour facilities, boaters' badges, boat passages through the Arzal-Camoël lock. I travelled to the harbours themselves, close to the people who used those tools.

The sector never left me. Avel means "wind" in Breton, and Avel Web has a branch dedicated to sailing clubs, marinas and sailing schools.

How I work

Three rules, unchanged since the first project.

One point of contact

The person who listens on the first call is the one who designs the mockups, writes the code and launches the site. Nothing gets lost between people.

Regular updates

At every stage you know where the project stands, what has been done and what comes next, without having to ask.

Code others can pick up

Documented code that any other developer can take over, including if one day it is no longer me. The code is yours.

What I use

The choice is made during scoping, based on the project and on who will maintain it afterwards.

Frequently asked questions

Who is behind Avel Web?

Raphaël Chaudré, a web developer based in Vannes, Brittany. He has been developing since 2017: marina software at PrimOcean and then Atout Ports, web and mobile apps at Keepcod in Nantes. He founded Avel Web in March 2022.

Is Avel Web an agency?

No, it is a one-person studio. You talk directly to the person who designs and builds your site, with no salesperson or project manager in between.

Do you work outside Vannes?

Yes, anywhere in France, remotely or on site. The studio’s projects range from Rennes to Saint-Hilaire-de-Riez. Beyond 30 km from Vannes, travel costs are itemised in the quote; over video calls there are none.

Let's talk about your project

A few lines about what you have in mind are enough. I reply myself, with an honest view on feasibility, budget and timeline.
